UR Media was co-founded by young adult members Malik Hardcastle and QuayShawn Presley, and is an organizational company co-managed by United Roots’ Staff & Youth Members. In partnership with local media companies, like Green Eyed Media and The Hidden GEM Arts Incubator, UR Media industry professionals supervise and manage media production with young adult media makers & tech innovators for our projects and contracts. This in-house youth-led media & tech company generates revenue for the United Roots organization while employing young people.
United Roots Staff will help manage your contract, identify youth media makers appropriate for your project and provide these youth with professional support and mentorship throughout the production of your project. By hiring UR Media you will interface directly with the United Roots organization, and United Roots ensures your project is completed in a professional manner.
Young people that have completed a media training program at United Roots can establish their own fee-for-hire media services. Often these young people launch their own social enterprise project in our Youth Hub Fellowship training program. If you hire a free lance youth, United Roots Staff will not be involved with your contract (thus the work of that young person on your project will not reflect United Roots or United Roots media training programs).
United Roots trains young people of color to be the next generation of socially conscious media makers. Our unique program model pairs students with industry professionals for apprenticeship-style learning. United Roots offers free media & tech training to young people ages 16-24. For more information, sign-up for a training program.
If your agency or business is interested in doing a collaborative media project with United Roots and/or our youth training programs you can meet directly with the Program Staff to draft a project plan.
